Caribou

So the caribou were out on the flats near the road the other day, so I snapped a few pics. Their antlers aren't so impressive right now, since the males are growing theirs back:




I got a little video at the tail end of some exciting caribou action, then they get boring again- tried editing out the end but couldn't get it to work. I added a really short clip of them walking to see the difference between them and the moose posted earlier:

Moose are Loose

So the baby moose are out- they are really cute when they're so tiny. A mama with twins camped out in the yard of a house I'm house/dog sitting. They were there all morning, so the dog and I left. That night, while the dog was outside, they came back- the mama was surprised by the dog and charged us. She was incredibly quiet and fast- it was like a stealth-mini bus coming straight at us! I got the dog inside the house and out of the way as fast as I could, and then took pictures through the window. The babies are really cute:



The babies are cutest when they walk- they're so gangly on their long legs:






There have been a bunch more babies around- this was possibly the smallest I've seen- the mama and baby were on the flats, and the pictures didn't turn out so well- you might have to double-click on the picture and make it bigger to see the baby:
