hey family and friends! we made it. all four of us. my phone isn't working at all, but anyone who knows me understands that i am ok with that for a while. i have loved the prairie and the endless skies of north dakota and saskatchewan. i am always amazed at how many different shades of green there are in the prairies. i agree with trina that canada could benefit from upgrading their major highway. if this is the big highway i am curious to see what we encounter further along. i did almost hit a huge white steer that was on the side of the road but, hey, shouldn't those things be fenced in?! we get to take it easy tomorrow! i can not wait to see the mountains and water again-lots of water and streams... i think i'm thirsty. bye-bye
1st time driving into canada
1st time road tripping with cats
1st time stopping at an official provincial rest area (on a 4 lane hwy) and finding nothing but a biffy and a trash can (appropriately it was right outside of the town named Piapot)
1st time driving in kilometers
1st time staying in a motel with pets
and last but not least...
this is my 1st time blogging.

Katie, funny thing about you and cats - turns out that Sam snuck into your room as you were getting ready on Friday morning. I discovered this on Saturday morning.
